March 3rd – I Want You To Be Happy Day. Quite possibly my new favorite holiday! It is a wonderful day to something nice for someone in your life, something that you know will make them truly happy.
For me, that might involve receiving a cupcake… just saying.

There are so many other things to do beside sit in front of your idiot box (or hulu or netflix)! So invite friends over and cook together, read a book, plan a trip, or if you’re like me, draw something and listen to audio books!!
Local peeps should check the site Brooklyn Based for some fun stuff to do local.
The first thing I think of when I hear ‘Backwards Day’ is Kris Kros and their backwards overalls and it makes me want to Jump Jump! So if for some reason I feel compelled to think more about the idea of backwards vs. forwards I think about pallindromes. Keep an eye out for some art later this month based on palindromes.
This friday night is craft night at Gasworks! Come on by from 7pm-10pm to get some pizza and wine and ornament making time!
We’ll be making paper (p)ornaments, with old catalogs, construction paper and porn!!!
$5 for supplies and $10 for food and drink

Last chance to get Dad that tie you didn’t get him for Father’s Day. When I was a kid my father was the one who stayed home with me. But since he was working remotely he had to distinguish for me between ‘Working Dad’ and ‘Free to Bother Him Dad’. He claims he wore a tie during the day, and then took it off at 6pm. But I only remember him in old cut off workpants and white Hanes tshirts. I wonder if he wore the tie over that…
Do whatever you need to do in order to make your slumber more enjoyable this month! There is nothing that I love more than being read to sleep like a 4 year old. Somehow, this is still my favorite bedtime ritual. So now I have audio books to do it for me! This also gives me the vague impression that I know how to read, since I can reference books. Currently I’m listening to Chronic City by Jonathan Lethem at bedtime – great book!

Event/crafty party designers Shy But Interested (Kara Schmidt and Meggs Benadic) came by the studio to show us some of their new work and take some product shots. These guys are great artist and designers, and their backgrounds in these fields to their decoration work. This makes for something that has the cuteness of crafty things while not being just that. Check up on them for all your various party needs!
